Painting the town red !

During my childhood, whenever I used to walk past precariously balanced painters, dangling on rope swings, painting beautiful paintings - I would always wonder, What is so different between these painters and those internationally reputed painters ? If someone is able to paint such beautiful creations by hanging so dangerously, imagine how beautiful he will be able to paint if he is given the comfort of a nice studio.

Looks like someone in BBMP ( Bruhat Bangalore City Corporation ) read my mind :)

Since August 2009, hunderds of local artists in Bangalore were given the unique opportunity to paint the public walls in Bangalore. All the public walls ( campuses of bus stations, parks , underground bridges etc. ) have been turned into giant posters - depicting culture, flora and fauna, men and women dressed in their traditional attire etc.

These paintings have also served as a purpose to keep the public walls free of banners and posters and people's spit.

Not all the paintings are as beautiful as the ones I have put up here - but then I think it is a very innovative and creative solution to a trying and sensitive issue.

Must say - Kudos to BBMP and BBMP Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena !

Please find a more detailed article in a publication called 'Citizen Matters' over here.

The paintings are beautiful. Sometimes simple solutions can make such an impact.
