I had it ! :( :)
This was around two weeks back. I was driving towards MGRoad ( YOu know I am talking about the same MGRoad that each one of you have in your cities...! yaa.. ! And I am talking about the MGRoad in my city - Bangalore:) ) Now I was at a road, that had a road, going to the right after 1/2 a km( For localites, I was at hosur road, and I am talking about the junction after the cemetary ). The road straight would have led to the road that would take towards my destination. The traffic was heavy on the road that i was driving. Which means there were about three lanes of bumper to bumper traffic .
Unfortunately I was on the right most lane.. Which means, 1/2 km more, and I would have to turn right - where as , actually I wanted to go straight :( So I was looking for chances to change my lane , when at one point , -
Ah! The lane to the left seemed to be clearing. Immediately I put my left indicator - looked to my left and started steering my vehicle to the left . I had it steered around 15% to the left - when I saw a white jeep behind me on the next lane on the left, that had stopped . The owner of the vehicle ( a middle aged, well built, prim and proper, righteous man :) ) , was stopping me and asking me what I was doing.
I bit my tongue , steered my vehicle straight again and said sorry. Then the jeep pulls up to me and the driver says.. Always maintain your lanes !..
That set me off !! How can he complain !! I had put my indicator. I needed to come to the other lane ! I was completely right ! And with that righteousness I told him, that I needed to come left and I had taken care of all the necessary rules. Also I couldnt have stayed in my own lane.
God knows why , this well built uncle seemed to insist - You need to maintain your lane !!!
And now i couldnt take it any more . I did something i had never - ever done earlier ( After all there are always some firsts :) ) - I said - Shut up ! God! I know, I had never done that before. Besides, I was completely sure, I had done everything right and I couldnt understand why the uncle was giving me instructions again and again. ! I think I said Shut up twice or thrice and then continued my driving- trying to be oblivious of this jeep ! - Who was trying to chase me now - Unh! Why dont people mind their own business !.. :)
About 100 mts after the drive.. The uncle moves ahead..
Imagine my plight ! The white jeep had neatly written "Traffic Police " printed on the back.. !!
Hehehehe - I knew - I had it today.. ! :)
I had ordered a senior traffic police official to shut up !! :) White jeep, Well built, prim and proper Uncle ! - Flash thru my memory now -God ! Why did I not guess it !!
I tried to dodge the official, avoid him, but he caught up with me , and made me come out of my vehicle.. :)
And he asked his subordinates to write a notice for - ahem ! misbehaviour with a police official ! .. Boy ! I had it.. !
Thankfully .. I had my sense in place .. And apologised to him for my misconduct and told him that I said that because I knew i was completely right.. Sorry ! I said ( with a pitiful face and nice smile on my face :) - Full maska :))
There was a short argument . But he let me go - Dont know if it was because he saw that I was truthful or because ( And I like to think this ) he also had daughters my age who would have behaved as silly as me :) ..
And after that he adviced me not to behave like that with anyone.. :)
But that was a close shave ! :)
Do you have an experience like that - experience of "shutting up " a senior police officer.. :) Heheheheh :)

This was well told I must say....I was glued to each word of the post...

I am gonna share this story with many ppl...."there is a friend of mine and u know...this is what that happened to her...she says shut up to a police official...oh jeez...."

Hilarious! That was a fun read. You must be the queen of experiences in this genre.
Thank god... I was not there...

@Satya .. Yaa.. Some experiences I go thru ! ( rolling my eyes ! :) )
@Shruth.. Guess it is how we see the humour in the situation too.. I can imagine someother people making it a serious event :)
@Raghav .. You know what , I too thanked God that you were not there ;P
@Mampi.. hehee :) There are so many more of these goof ups.. Will put them sometime.. :)
@DB.. First of all, welcome back :) You know what , that police officer also had a good sens of humour I think. Coz, he very well knew, that I hadnt known he was a police officer.. At one point when we were arguing, he says - Is that a way to behave with a police officer- ( then he gives me a stern look and says ) - Forget police officer, is that a way to behave with anyone ! :)
But yes, it does speak of his maturity , when he let me go.
Dear Veena,
Truly hilarious. You sure do have a lot of experiences while driving :) And no, I've never had such an experience. When we were in the US, Amit used to tease me that I'm a very boring driver, since I had never managed to get a ticket for anything in the 4 years we were there. He of course got a couple of speeding tickets and got pulled over once randomly.
Infact recently, a car hit me from behind in a traffic congestion in Pune. But the driver of that car was so polite and gentlemanly, that he admitted to his fault readily. He quietly shared his cell number with me and asked me to let him know the extent of damages and he would foot the bill! What's more he did too. So I lost an opportunity to fight this time around too.
Nilu
@Neelu , wow ! :)
