Gods must be crazy - A clip

08 April 2009
Disclaimer - This is a 15 min video . So feel free to skip this.

This is a clip from the movie 'Gods must be crazy'. Found this dailogue extremely funny and relevant -
Civilized man refused to adapt himself to his environment. Instead, he adapted his environment to suit him. So he built cities, roads, vehicles, machinery and he put out power lines to run his labour-saving devices. But somehow, he didn't know when to stop. The more he improved his surroundings to make life easier, the more complicated he made it. So now his children are sentenced to 10 to 15 years of school just to learn how to survive in this complex and hazardous habitat they were born into. And civilized man, who refuses to adapt himself to his natural surrounding, now finds himself having to adapt and re-adapt himself everyday and every hour of the day to his self-created environment. For instance, if the day is called Monday and the number 7:30 comes up, you have to dis-adapt yourself from your domestic surroudings and re-adapt yourself to an entirely different environment. 8:00 means everyone has to look busy. 10:30 says you can stop looking busy for 15 minutes. And then you have to look busy again .

:) .. Funny isnt it ? What is progress to you ? I would highly recommend a book 'Ignited Minds- APJ Abdul Kalam'. Gives his vision on where he wants India to be 20 years from now.

Well, I guess I'm one of the very lucky people that way.. cheers to all the homemakers of the world who are under no obligation to look busy or otherwise to others! Cheers to our freedom!

Don't frown, Veena! I'm allowed to laugh once in a while, am I not?

Seriously, we really are slaves to our environment, technology, peer pressure, you name it.

Ever notice how I avoid answering phone calls, messages? Well, this is my humble way of NOT being a slave to any of the above-mentioned things! ;)
