It happened one night
24th April 2009
This is something I had written long back- but hadnt posted it. So if a few of my friends have read it - maaf karo ( forgive me ) :).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was about 2 weeks back. I was driving back from Chowdiah memorial hall late in the night ( around 10 pm ). I came in front of the Windsor Manor bridge. This bridge has a small underpass ( guess it is called the
magic box ). Now I wasnt sure if this magic box would lead me on my way to MG Road ,( from where I could take myself safely to Bannergatta Road - where i wanted to go). Wondering what to do, I paused at the start of the magic box.
When , out of nowhere , a young auto driver came and stopped besides me and said "Hogi Madam"( Go madam ) in a very kind voice. Guess he thought that I was scared to go under the very small underpass :) Anyways, I asked him if this was the route to MG Road, to which he replied in an affirmative and said, come follow me.. Since I did not know the route much, I just kept following him as he took all the lefts and the rights.. when at one point i spotted a board saying "Cunningham Road " . Wow ! I know this road !. I thought. And simultaneously I wondered " why am i following this guy -- What if he leads me to some God Forsaken place ". with the new found self confidence and fear of being abducted, I decided to follow this guy no more. so when he took the turn at Ali Aksar Street , I decided to move on.
I went up the " god knows what street ". asked for a few directions. went left and a few right . and ended up in the Ali aksar street. and proceeded along the road.
I had forgotten the auto driver by now.. and was sure that he had forgotten me too and would have proceeded with whatever he was doing.
As I came out of Ali Aksar road and reached the Infantry road, ( all of which were familiar territory to me now ), and from there to the chinnaswamy stadium cross.. I paused , since the traffic signal asked me to do so.. and suddenly as i looked up, I saw this auto driver waiting for me paitiently over there.. when he saw me coming,
he came up to me and asked.. "Mam , can you find your way now ".. I gave him a grateful smile and said.. Yes.. and Thank you .. to which he smiled back and went on his own way.
At that point, it struck me like a bolt... "ITS ONLY WHEN YOU LOSE FAITH, DO YOU LOSE THE WAY.. ITS ONLY WHEN 'I' COMES IN THE WAY OF YOUR JUDGEMENT , DO YOU ACTUALLY FAIL TO JUDGE "

Very good post! I had read this before, but enjoyed reading it again.
The statement at the very end is very true. Faith and trust are the basis of all relationships. Unfortunately, life in urban times is teaching us to be more and more suspicious of each other. We all have to achieve the fine balance between being cautious and being open.
Keep writing:)
Nice post! Very true--it all depends on how much one trusts.Trust works wonders.
Cheers

@Nilu,
:) Thanks..What you said is sadly very true.. People in rural areas do have more trust, love for each other and nature and are very simple in their thoughts .. somethings that are very basic for the well being and growth of a human being.. .somethings that we tend to lose out on because of the fast life we live in the urban areas.
@Preeti
A pleasant surprise and welcome to the blog :) .. Yes trust does work wonders..
I remeber reading during school days about JRD saying about his Secret of Success "I start with trusting the people. I trust the person untill he proves me wrong and rarely they succeed" (somthing like that I don't remeber the exact sentence but what i remeber is start with the trust! )
Yes RAghav, trust is the single most important quality a leader should show.. coz it is very difficult to perform in an environment where there is no trust..
>> I trust the person untill he proves me wrong and rarely they succeed"
Guess you mean "I trust the person untill he proves me wrong and rarely they succeed to prove me wrong "
sorry--mistook u to be another blogger who had posted her US experience! :)
no issues.. :)
Dear Veena, this is an incident that compels us to look within ourselves as to how we doubt everyone's intentions and find ourselves unable to accept anything at face value. Let's celebrate the idea that the same God lives within all of us, as D.H. Lawrence, one of the greatest and most controversial writers of his times, does in these lines.
This is what I believe:
That I am I.
That my soul is a dark forest.
That my known self will never be more than a little clearing in the forest.
That gods, strange gods, come forth from the forest into the clearing of my known self, and then go back.
That I must have the courage to let them come and go.
That I will never let mankind put anything over me, but that I will try always to recognize and submit to the gods in me and the gods in other men and women.
There is my creed.
Love
Roli :)
Thanks Roli for that comment.. Actually , my ignorent self, found that a little funny way of putting things.
However yes, I do believe that there is God in each one of us.. and that we know very little about ourselves.. and that we should submit ourselves to the God in nature and things around us..
good one. i liked the last phrase esp. way to go!
Thanks Sneha.. ! Also thanks for visiting my blog..
Veena ... gr8 post ..and sometimes we stop trusting ourselves ..and that shows up with other people ...
@Seema, yes.. :)
nice post veena...i think there are two areas here..one is instinct and the other is intelligence. Instinct wise it has the ingredient fear and it keeps us informed and the intelligence has logic that can calculate the pros and cons. Above all this strange is the way of the universe..it always there if you are in the clearing to receive each time...In short if you were there to receive it you had it since the doubt creeped in there you were on your own...
@hema.. True, very true.. only when I lost trust, did i lose the way... :)
